Origin
Founded in 2025 as a spin-off
Nanomag GmbH was founded in 2025 as a spin-off of a business unit of Miba eMobility GmbH. What we took with us was not just an idea, but an established process, the metrology behind it and the people who know how to run it.
That explains a combination you rarely find in a company of this age: the agility of a small team and the manufacturing depth of an industrial supplier.

Dr. Werner Pessenhofer
Managing Director
Dr Werner Pessenhofer leads Nanomag GmbH as Managing Director. He brought the business unit from which Nanomag emerged to series maturity at Miba eMobility GmbH.
For technical questions on design, tolerances and test scope he is directly reachable — you will not be talking to a call centre.

Supply chain
EUROPE first — designed that way from the start
For us, resource independence was not a reaction to supply bottlenecks but a requirement placed on process and product development.
Development and manufacturing are in Austria and we source the magnetic material through European suppliers — and because the magnetically active layer is only 0.1 mm thick, a Nanomag ring needs only a fraction of the material in question per part.
- Magnetic material sourced through European suppliers
- Around one fifth of the magnet material of an elastomer-bonded ring and under 2 % of a sintered ring of the same size
- Development and manufacturing in Austria
- Less exposure to rare-earth export restrictions — because very little of it goes into each ring
- A stated goal: to further reduce dependence on individual markets outside Europe
